Joe Laakman
2008 School Advisory Council Nominee
Joe Laakman and his wife, Patty, have two children attending STA: Tom (5th) and Ellie (3rd). Joe is an architect with HKS Inc. and offers 30 years of experience in master planning, design and construction of large scale projects.
Joe sees our biggest challenge as maintaining qualified teachers by having an ongoing recruiting process which in turn yields energetic and proven candidates. He believes we must prepare the graduates to deal with challenges/entrapments of today's society in addition to being qualified for enrollment in the select high schools of Dallas.
Joe is a lifetime Catholic and has attended both Catholic and public schools around the world. He has served as an appointed member of the School Advisory Board this past year and functioned as Chairman of the Facilities Committee. Joe and his family have been active members of St. Thomas Aquinas for the past six years.
