Peter Loh 2008 School Advisory Council Nominee
Peter Loh and his wife, Christine, have three children (Jonathan, Peter Jr and Samuel), one of which attends STA: Jonathan (1st grade). Peter is an attorney and has professional experience in written and oral advocacy as a commercial litigator, plus project management skills.
Peter believes Catholic education means the following to him:
- First, Catholic Education provides the spiritual building blocks for the rest of a child's life in the Catholic faith.
- Second, Catholic Education provides an academic environment that is challenging and stimulating and demands excellence.
- Third, a Catholic Education should provide a safe environment for students and their teachers to accomplish the two objectives above.
Peter's vision for St. Thomas Aquinas (STA) School is continued growth in its student body while maintaining quality Catholic Education. He believes financial constraints could prevent STA's ability to provide affordable Catholic Education for parishioners' children. Solutions he would consider are continued aggressive fund raising efforts which build on past successes, i.e. school carnivals and auctions. Other fund raising avenues such as corporate sponsorships of year round school activities like sports teams. Finally, wise investing and use of capital raised.
Peter is very active in his class, and he has volunteered for St. Vincent DePaul Thanksgiving turkey deliveries for the underprivileged.
