The STA Student Council is a traditional school organization which has provided leadership and service to the St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic School community for many years. All eighth graders are members of the organization. The guiding philosophy of the Student Council is to provide leadership and service to the school community. Eighth graders are very involved in service projects, both individual and group. There are two major projects steeped in STA tradition which the Student Council oversees. These are the annual Halloween Carnival and the Valentine "Candy Grams" delivery.
The Student Council plans, fundraises, and provides leadership and manpower for these two projects. These projects provide entertainment and community building, as well as generate significant proceeds. The funds raised from the projects go into the school general fund to assist in the cost of student activities such as the 8th grade trip to the Pines Camp and the 7th grade trip to the State Capital of Austin. Both projects are successful because of the tradition and support of the St. Thomas Aquinas community.
Student Council officers are elected by the student body each fall. Officers include the following: president, vice president, secretary, and treasurer.
