Jessica Petit
My name is Jessica Petit and this is my first year here at St. Thomas Aquinas. I am very excited about being a part of the St. Thomas community.
I am married and have two wonderful children, a daughter, Nathalie, eighteen months old, and a stepson, Alex, fourteen years old. Both children keep my husband, Frederic and me very busy. We have a bilingual family and speak French as well as English. In my spare time I like to spend time with my family and friends. I also enjoy exercising, reading and listening to all different types of music.
I have been teaching for eleven years. I graduated from the University of South Alabama in Mobile, Alabama with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. I have a Texas Teaching certificate in Elementary Education and have recently added certification in English as a Second Language. I have worked in both public and private schools here in Dallas and Coppell, including The Dallas International School where I was also the director for The Summer Language Program there for two years. I have taught Pre-Kindergarten through Fourth Grade and my experience across grade levels helps me to better prepare and challenge my students.
My philosophy in education is to assist students to reach their maximum individual level of achievement. I hope to nurture an enthusiasm for learning by providing fun, hands-on activities which engage students in the learning process while also taking into consideration all students learning styles and abilities. My classroom is always structured and I set appropriate limits so that all the students can learn and thrive. My expectations are high and my students are always challenged and do well. I am so excited about meeting all of my students and I look forward to a wonderful school year.
