Leslie Avery
My name is Leslie Avery, and I have been a teacher for fourteen years and have taught 1st grade for the past nine years. I was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, and taught grades 6th, 7th and 8th grades before moving to Texas in 1997. Here, I taught 4th and 5th grade before finally discovering that 1st was my favorite! I believe that in 1st Grade, each day is new and exciting, and that "there's nothing we can't do, if we work it out together." More than anything, I love watching my students grow into independent workers and thinkers.
I married my husband, Tobin in 2001 and we have three children - Nolan, Amanda, and Mackenzie. I love sports - especially football - and spending time with my family. Everyday I feel lucky to be a parent and a teacher.
