Dottie Lucas
I am beginning my 19th year at the "big school" at STA. During that time I have taught 5th-8th grade Religion, 6th-8th grade Art and 1st grade. I also taught at the STA Preschool the year before it officially became part of the school. I have enjoyed teaching here and love the students I have taught over the years. I am very grateful that this community is very supportive of its teachers.
I received my Bachelor of Arts in Teaching from Sam Houston State University with a major in Elementary Education and a Minor in Special Education. I am certified to teach Religion through the Diocese of Dallas. I have also worked on my Masters Degree in Education.
STA has always been part of my life as I was baptized here and chose to return when I had the opportunity to move back into the area. My husband, Tony and I were married here. Both of my children graduated from St. Thomas Aquinas School and my daughter was married here this past summer.
From a very early age I knew that I wanted to teach. I believe that every child is capable of learning and must be nurtured to instill a love of learning. I want my students to not only learn about their faith but make it part of their daily lives. One of the best parts of teaching is when students come back and I am able to see how they have grown and the wonderful people they have become.
