Joel DeFayette
As the music teacher for the Upper School at St. Thomas Aquinas I am responsible for implementing various musical concepts students in instrumental, vocal and general music disciplines. This is my eighth year at St. Thomas Aquinas and each year brings new challenges and excitement. I received a Bachelor in Music Education with a concentration in Voice and Choral Conducting from The University of North Texas in Denton, TX. I am currently pursuing a Masters in Music Education and Administration from the Vandercook College of Music in Chicago, IL.
I am a member of the American Choral and Director Association (ACDA), Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA), Texas Choral and Director Association (TCDA) and Dallas Symphony Chorus.
I feel music can reach all students of various learning styles through any performance whether vocal or instrumental.
The music program allows each student to master various music concepts, music history, theory, proper vocal and instrument techniques, culture and music appreciation, choral singing and church liturgical.
The school year includes students� participation in various musical performances such as: Christmas and Spring Programs, Holiday at North Park Mall, C. C. Young Retirement Center, and Spring in the Park at Six
Flags Over Texas.
