Kelly Bentel
Hi, my name is Kelly Bentel and I am the Lower School Counselor. This is my fifth year at St. Thomas Aquinas. I taught first grade for two years, Optimal Match for one year, and this is my second year as Counselor. I conduct weekly guidance lessons with each class at the lower school, work with individual students and small groups, coordinate testing, and develop appropriate classroom accommodations and referrals as needed.
I received my bachelor�s degree from SMU in Psychology and Sociology, and my master�s degree in Education specializing in Elementary School Counseling. I am currently a Licensed Professional Counselor Intern. I am conducting research, in conjunction with SMU, regarding parental discipline techniques and how it affects a child�s behavior. I attend multiple educational conferences each year and strive to gain knowledge of the latest research in education and counseling.
I have been married for two years to my loving and supportive husband, Pat Bentel. In our spare time, we love to travel, and enjoy running and being outdoors.
It is my pleasure to work cooperatively with you and your children to have a wonderful 2009-2010 school year!
