As the Science Lab Coordinator for Kindergarten-5th grades at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic School, I have the fabulous task of planning, coordinating and implementing the hands-on science lab experiences for approximately 500 students each week. In an effort to awaken their joy in learning about the world in which we live, I use a multi-sensory approach and follow the scientific method in lab activities that range from hatching chicks in an incubator to testing the heat gain in student-built solar water heaters. Through Science, the students learn to observe, ask questions, develop hypotheses, follow a logical plan to discover answers and draw conclusions about their experiences.

My background includes a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Texas- Austin with certifications in Elementary Education and Special Education- All Levels. I have completed graduate level classes at the University of Texas- Austin and Southwest Texas University.

I coordinated the Special Education and Vocational Education programs (K-12) for Lago Vista ISD (Lake Travis) for 3 years before moving to Dallas, where I taught at Highland Park High School for 3 years. I then worked as a Homebound Student Instructor with Highland Park ISD, concentrating on English, Math and Science instruction for 3rd grade-high school students. I have worked as Science Lab Coordinator at St. Thomas from 2000- Present.

I am married and have 2 daughters, both of whom graduated from St. Thomas Aquinas and subsequently from Bishop Lynch High School. Alicia graduated from Texas A&M University- Summa Cum Laude, in December 2008. Claire entered Texas A&M as a Freshman this year.
