The guidelines for carpool drop-off/pickup are in place for the safety of the children. To ensure this safety, please read and follow all parking and carpool line rules. The carpool line begins at the west entrance of the parking lot, next to the soccer field. Form a single line in the street alongside Luby’s parking lot. Please stay in the queue and please do not attempt to pass other vehicles. Please remain as close to the curb as possible to ensure traffic may pass safely. Thank you for not talking or texting on cell phones during carpool! Morning drop-off is at the main entrance to the school on St. Moritz. Beginning at 7:30 AM an adult will assist the children exiting the cars. Children may not be dropped off prior to 7:30 AM, as there is no supervision for them. Please leave the parking lot from the east exit.

• Parents of students in K-2 using carpool will enter the parking lot near the soccer field. Lower School students will be directed by teachers to enter the following doors:
  • Kindergarten students will enter the kindergarten hallway through the soccer field gate/playground doors.
  • 1st grade students will enter through the main school entrance.
  • 2nd grade students will enter through the secondary set of doors facing the 2nd grade hallway.
• PK students will enter through doors at the circle drive on Alderson. Parents with multiple children at the Lower School will drop off K-2 students first then pull to the PK circle to drop off.
• Parents may park at Luby’s and walk their child to the sidewalk in front of the school using social distancing.

Families may walk their child to school, but the carpool line will be used for pick-up to ensure social distancing protocols.

The procedure for the afternoon carpool line is basically the same as for morning carpool.

• For the safety of our teachers and community, all Lower School families will use the carpool line this year for pick-up. You will not be able to park at Luby’s and use our walk-up system at dismissal time. ​​​​​​
• Families with PK children and older siblings are asked to pick up their K-2 children first, then turn right into the circle drive to pick up their PK child.
• Please display your blue carpool tag in your front wind shield and pull forward.
  • If you are new to STA, we will issue you a new carpool tag which must be displayed every day during pick up.
  • If you are a returning STA family, please use your carpool sign from last year.
  • If you have lost your tag, please contact Teresa Diaz at tdiaz@staschool.org in the admissions office.
  • The carpool tag is what gets your child called from the classroom, and brought to the carpool line, so it is very important to have it displayed each day at dismissal time.
• Parents are asked to please remain in your car at all times and pull up to the appropriate grade signage. This location will be the same as in morning drop-off.
  • The children remain safely in the school supervised by faculty and staff.
  • The students’ names are called over the PA and they are released to you.
  • Your child will not be released to anyone without the carpool tag or without showing identification.

If there will be a change in carpool arrangements, please send a note or e-mail the teacher AND Cheryl Neeley (cneeley@staschool.org). We will not release a child to anyone without your permission.

• 3rd and 4th grade and older siblings will be dropped off and picked up in the SOUTH (back) parking lot by the field. Third and fourth grade students enter through the doors on the Northeast side of the building. (See purple star in diagram.)
• 5th and 7th grade and older siblings will be dropped off and picked up in the NORTH (front) parking lot. Fifth and seventh grade students will enter through doors on Northwest side of the building. (See red star in diagram.)
• 6th and 8th grade may be dropped off and picked up in either the north or south parking lot. Sixth and eight grade students will enter the building at the west entrance closest to the church and gym. (see the yellow star in the diagram.)

• Students will leave the building the same way they entered at drop off.
• Please be prepared for afternoon carpool at the Upper School to look more like our rainy-day procedures. Students will come out of the building one at a time.
• If your child is a walker, be prepared for their release to be delayed as much as 30 minutes. We highly recommend using the carpool system in order to pick up your child in a timely manner.
